About us
For many years, we’ve been curating habits and skills that some may call “old fashioned.” Making lotion with beef tallow, baking sourdough bread, preserving food through freezing, canning, and fermenting, eating organ meats, and even meeting local farmers for fresh eggs and milk—these may seem unusual to some, but for us, we wouldn’t have it any other way.
Our lifestyle shift began when doctors couldn’t figure out what was going on with my skin. I struggled with painful breakouts shortly after starting a job at a dental office after college. Specialist after specialist prescribed stronger and stronger topical steroids, and eventually, I couldn’t take it anymore. I was dependent on prescriptions just to get through the day—it was surviving, not thriving.
In desperation, Zach and I turned to natural remedies. I kept thinking, God created all that is good and natural on this earth—I didn’t want to rely on harsh man-made medications that only treated the symptoms, never the root cause. Slowly, over time, by eating whole foods and removing toxins from our home and lifestyle, my skin began to heal. Today, I can confidently say I no longer struggle with skin issues. (Of course, everyone’s experience is different, and this is not medical advice—just my personal journey.)
This journey also shaped how we live and work today. We’re raising our family in the beautiful Black Hills, and we’re committed to connecting with our local community—not just through the ingredients we source, but through friendships and collaborations with other small businesses in our area. This sense of community guides everything we do.
Making natural skincare was a natural next step. We wanted products that we would feel good about putting on our bodies—because if we wouldn’t put it in our bodies, we wouldn’t put it on our skin.
We wholeheartedly believe in quality over quantity. Our products aren’t something you’ll find on a Walmart shelf; they’re handcrafted with intention, and we hope you can feel the difference with every use.
By purchasing our balms, you’re not just supporting our family business—you’re supporting South Dakota ranchers, butchers, beekeepers, and local retail stores. We love this state and the community we get to be part of, and we are committed to supporting our local economy in any way we can.
Thank you for stopping by—we are truly grateful for your support!
